Rant in Philebrity about Kickstarter →
Click through the link to read a rant about music-related Kickstarter projects from April 6. Someone posted this on Twitter today, and reading it left me with mixed feelings (full disclosure: I’ve run two successful vinyl Kickstarters and at least two KS employees follow this Tumblr).
The author brings up some points worthy of discussion. It is absolutely true (and tragic) that...

Jawbreaker on cello
I’m arranging some Jawbreaker songs for cello, to be possibly included in a documentary about the band. As I record songs this weekend, I’ll post rough mixes as Soundcloud files for comments and feedback. Follow here, or at Soundcloud, or on Twitter.

– Zoe Keating on Spotify, Apple and Independents (and lettuce) — My Music Thing
Excellent article with well-articulated, compelling arguments. The bit at the end about the niche-artist economy is great, too.
Very conflicted about whether to distribute my music to Spotify or not.

(click through to RSVP on Facebook)
We’re very excited to play with our friends Hammer No More The Fingers and Brice Randall Bickford (formerly The Strugglers) next Thursday at the Black Cat! Even better, this particular show will be a cello-fest, as each band features a different cellist (Hammer = Leah Gibson, and B.R.B. = Emily Wright).
Clearly this show is not to be...

Summer special on recordings
I’ve decided to run a summer special on cello recording… $100 for cello tracks on your song (normally $150), or $250 for a full-on cello cover of your song or someone else’s (normally $500). The catch is that I only have time for about 10 sessions this summer, between all of my other projects. So if you’ve been wanting to book me for some recording, let me know ASAP!

Matching pledge to help Japan →
officeoffutureplans:
Like most of you, we’ve been shocked and devastated at the disasters Japan is experiencing. Like most bands, we don’t have a lot of extra money lying around to help, but we’re going to try to do our part.
So, for the next 24 hours, all sales of our digital 7” will be donated to the disaster-relief organization ShelterBox.org. Plus, we’ll match up to $100 in sales from our...
